Default Southhampton

Bordering Rice University, the Texas Medical Center, the Museum District, and Hermann Park, Southampton is an outstanding neighborhood, well known for its handsome, oak-lined boulevards, traditional style homes, and its strong sense of community.

This is probably the only spot in Houston that you do not need a car!

Homes in Southampton are always expensive by Houston standard. Prices have increased considerably in value in the past several years, Land values in the best locations in the neighborhood such as Sunset and Rice Blvd had appreciated substantially.

As liowkc had said, Southampton Place may be one of the few spots in Houston where you don't really need a car to get around. The location is great with everything so close by. Located across from Rice University, this neighborhood is near the Texas Medical Center, the Museum District and is not far from downtown.

In order to preserve the residential environment, a strong set of deed restrictions was created in 1923. A civic club was formed in 1929 to enforce the deed restrictions, and the club is still active today.

Over the years, the neighborhood integrity has been maintained both in home restoration and new construction. Its picturesque boulevards and prime location have also provided a strong basis for property values.

Also to add that the original homes in Southampton were two story and traditional residences built on wooded lots. Driveway access to each home was hidden in order to enhance the beauty of the tree lined street. Today, newly built Georgian brick homes and soft contemporary residences line up along its historic avenues.
