Default Relocation

I am thinking of relocating to a new city. What are some online resources that I can make use of to do my research.

Other moving tips are also welcomed.

A good website to refer to is the homefair website where you can compare the cost of living in 2 cities.

Good recommendation. The site also contains information on population, crime rate, school districts and so on.

You should also ask these questions:

are you familiar with the cities and towns near where you are relocating?
do you know anyone where you are moving?
should you rent or buy?

I will ask further questions like:

will my new employer help me find a place to live? will they pay moving expenses. Am I working within a particular timeframe?

One resource often forgotten are local forums about the area you wish to move into. Join the forum and then you can get the 'low' and dirty about an area without actually telling anyone your plans. This way you can know for sure if that is the place for your move.

That is a wonderful and practical suggestion - just be a lurker in the many community forums hosted on the web and soon you will become an expert.

Thanks danang, I've been doing it so far with success too. You also get some insight into the local opinions of that area.
