Default Black Hat Practices

I am quite a newbie to SEO and seems to be a complicated and complex subject matter. Jargon like blackhats are really difficult to understand.

Black hat just means that the techniques that are used to rank well in the search engines page rankings or underhanded or even prohibited. Many individuals out there will do anything and everything to rank well even if it lowers the quality of experience for those that utilize the web. Google and Yahoo try to prevent this as much as possible, however it frequently occurs and when the search engines catch them they penalyze them by dropping them from search results.

What do you guys think of PR sculpting as a way to improve PR? There have been some discussions recently about using the “nofollow” attribute to sculpt a website's PR and is PR sculpting a blackhat practice?

I would consider it a "gray' hat practice, not specifically prohibited but allowed grudingly

Why you want to understand blackhats?

It would be better to work on organic SEO.

I agree with Sam that your time should be spent developing a website that brings value to the end user and that overtime will give you the search rankings that you desire and most likely will convert better as well.

don't waist your time knowing about black hat..
it is unethical to do..
if you really want your website to rank higher in search engine, the site should well developed and have a relevant web content..
